So, since I had not updated my passport with my married name since Mexico 2007, I needed to send it in for what I though would be a simple name change. Simple... not so much. Had I known this could have been done FOR FREE within a year of getting married, I would have done so immediately. But, much like everything else in my life that typically becomes more difficult than it has to be, I procrastinated and unexpectedly had to submit a whopping $110.00 check with my application. Really??? Believe me when I say that I seriously considered changing my drivers license back to my maiden name, just temporarily... to save a few bucks, ya know.
Anyway, now that the US government has had in their hot little hands (Lord, help me) original copies of both my passport and my marriage license (both the Spanish and English versions)... it seems as though they are not so quick to send them back. It's been almost 2 months. Yikes! Thank the Lord I started this process early!
